bed time stories
I was thinking today about all the great moments in my childhood and reminiscing about the bed time stories my Dad would read to me and my brother.
My dad had a great reading voice and never complained that I wanted to read the same book over and over....great dedication.
My book of choice was Richard Scarry's Best First Book Ever, affectionately renamed by me as "Cat book".
A book about Lowly worm and a family of cats (hence the cat book name) its a labelled picture book about their day and all the places they go. It is mainly to help kids learn a but load of words. I have a sneaking suspicion that it is the reason that I still label all of my drawings.
Another fave was The Escape of Marvin the Ape by Caralyn and Mark Buehner.

I think my dad hates Dr. Suess.
Also - when I was like 4 my mom used to read me Clifford the Big Red Dog and every book opens with "Hi! My name is Emily Elizabeth" and I used to crack up at the alliteration. I had a bizarre sense of humour as a tot.
